The Schumacher Packaging Group, one of Europe's largest manufacturers of customised corrugated and solid board packaging (www.schumacher-packaging.com), has been recognised for outstanding sustainability performance. The plant in Wroclaw, Poland, received the "Best Performer - Europe" award at the EcoVadis Sustainability Awards 2023. Out of a total of 75,000 companies evaluated, four other companies were honoured in Europe. This makes Schumacher Packaging one of the leading companies in Europe in the field of sustainability management.

The award winners were selected on the basis of the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating 2022 and honoured on 13 March 2023 at the EcoVadis Sustain Conference in Paris. In its analysis, EcoVadis examines the environmental and social practices of corporate supply chains. It evaluates 21 indicators in the areas of environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. With the "Platinum Medal", the Wroclaw plant was already among the top one percent of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis last year. Four Schumacher Packaging Group sites now meet this standard.

Future-oriented focus for people and nature

"For 75 years, we have been processing renewable raw materials from nature and doing everything we can to make our packaging even more climate-friendly. We are aware of our social, ecological and economic responsibility. This is also why we invest in environmentally friendly technologies with an eye to the future and pursue the goal of climate-neutral production by 2035," explains company boss Björn Schumacher. "The EcoVadis award is an important confirmation of our achievements to date and an incentive to consistently continue on this path."

Highest award for highest standards

Schumacher Packaging regularly undergoes a CSR assessment by the recognised sustainability rating agency EcoVadis. In recent years, six of the group's sites have already received the sustainability recognition level Gold; Breda in the Netherlands is among the top 25 per cent of companies assessed with Silver. The highest sustainability rating is the EcoVadis Platinum Standard, with which the plant in Greven was also assessed this year.
